for everyone
The prominent building in the photo is the Mountain Supply Store owned by Leung Kwan Ling, the patriarch of the Del Rosario family of Sunshine Supermart and Veniz Hotel. The Mountain Supply Store catered to the then booming mining industry of Benguet.

Does Mike del Rosario know about this photo? :) There was an article in the Inquirer a couple of weeks ago, about the del Rosario family's contribution to the growth of business in Baguio since before the war...I have fond memories of buying pan de sal and pastries at the main Sunshine store at the corner of Abanao St. -- decades before Veniz -- and the smaller branch of the bakery right smack in the middle of the public market, between the dry goods section and the sapatusan.

Our grandmother, whom we called Old Mama, used to buy for us pan de sitos from Sunshine as pasalubong when she came from the market. Sometimes, it was banana bread, in the shape of bananas. Sunshine Grocery was also the place to buy Jack & Jill Chiz Curls when it was still the rave.
