That's the Baguio that I know and love.Too bad, now it is but a dream.
So nostalgic, so much so that it leaves a hollow feeling where it tugs the most - my heart!
| paxuntalan wrote on Dec 5, '07, edited on Dec 5, '07 Brings a lot of memories, malagip ko ni Greg A di nabartek ti gin dita Cathedral, inpan da iddiay Baguio Police Station. | 2ynotmi wrote on Dec 5, '07, edited on Dec 5, '07 this used to be one of our routes we took walking to school and home. the other is along vallejo hotel just below this hill to the right (facing baguio cathedral). thanks jack! |
brings back high school memories!
i think it is better to see things like this than gigantic buildings of what we see now.. baguio was so beautiful before, eventhough i was not able to see it before the earthquake, i still can imagine its beauty..i always search its historical landmarks, i buy your magazines and does researches about your ancestors, thanks for posting!
I don't think I was already in existence when Mines View looked like this. =)
thanks Jack! senior moments, it's a full-blown nostalgia and i can't recall the names of girlfriends accompanied there to look the View. ..and it was already a metal pavilion when we went there. hehehe! lol..merry christmas!
this is the mines view i know.

Wow when were this photos taken?
Thanks for sharing Sir. Baguio has changed so much!
old school baguio=much better than today.
dawinsanity wrote on Dec 15, '07, edited on Dec 15, '07 Baguio looked better before than now. Even the cars look better. :) I wonder where this photo was taken. Was it an aerial shot? Or shot from somewhere in abanao?
I vividly remember, we spent our summer vacations in Baguio in the late 50s till the late 60s. The city was so clean and the air breeze of pine scent... nostalgic!
another gem! what a find! TFS!
wow, that's what Baguio should be. The many things we pay for being in this wave of the 2onth century is losing the very essence of the things we want so very much to save. A huge prize to pay for the modern way we want to live.
another treasure found jack! i have the current pictures of the post office with all the carinderias around it. disgusting.
1mig wrote on Dec 17, '07 another treasure found jack! i have the current pictures of the post office with all the carinderias around it. disgusting. I saw that, isn't the bldg city owned? why did the city allow these people to squat there?
oh my god this photos are amazing me!!!!
oh my maybe my mom and dad where still in their teens when Mines View looked liked this... but it looks great no tiangges yet.....
Really appreciated this album! Thanks for posting it, Jack! I've only lived here for a little over 17 years and I already decry Baguio's "uglification". I can only imagine what you guys who've lived here ever since feel.
Ahh..wow. I saw old pics of my alma mater at Easter School but never this view. Cool. It looks so different from today.
Whooow... This is the place where I grew up. I agree with Cokeaholic, i had some old pictures of guisad and easter school but i never saw one like this... Yeah...!
1920. Wow. This is a rare piece, indeed. Thanks for sharing, Jack.
Nice find! Where did you find?
Wow! Sadinnu nangbirukan u ngay ditoy? Mayat a. :)
wow!!! wala pa yung baguio cathedral dito a!!!!!
auntie ruby asked me to find pictures of old baguio like the ones circulating of manila, and i find you via google, i suppose we're cousins? esp since netty is in your network
This old market structure...was this part of the area that was burned during the recent Baguio Market fire?
same street were we used to assemble for rallies or parades passing through Session road. HeHeHe. Now this is what Baguio is all about.
Everything looked so simple back then..all the more peaceful..seems you really could walk around town with no marked pedestrian lanes or overpasses back then. HeHeHe
