That's the Baguio that I know and love.Too bad, now it is but a dream.

So nostalgic, so much so that it leaves a hollow feeling where it tugs the most - my heart!

i think it is better to see things like this than gigantic buildings of what we see now.. baguio was so beautiful before, eventhough i was not able to see it before the earthquake, i still can imagine its beauty..i always search its historical landmarks, i buy your magazines and does researches about your ancestors, thanks for posting!

Baguio looked better before than now. Even the cars look better. :) I wonder where this photo was taken. Was it an aerial shot? Or shot from somewhere in abanao?

I vividly remember, we spent our summer vacations in Baguio in the late 50s till the late 60s. The city was so clean and the air breeze of pine scent... nostalgic!
ruditabora wrote on Dec 17, '07
another gem! what a find! TFS!
julietadevera wrote on Dec 17, '07
wow, that's what Baguio should be. The many things we pay for being in this wave of the 2onth century is losing the very essence of the things we want so very much to save. A huge prize to pay for the modern way we want to live.
ricmaniquis wrote on Dec 17, '07

I saw that, isn't the bldg city owned? why did the city allow these people to squat there?

Enterprising ang Dept. of Transportation & Communication. Obsolete na kasi snail mail, they need income to survive.

Possibly taken atop Mount Peak Hotel, now the Abanao Square.

Early 1900s, wala pang Marcos Hi-way noon. By trail walking or horseback ang mode of transportation.

Really appreciated this album! Thanks for posting it, Jack! I've only lived here for a little over 17 years and I already decry Baguio's "uglification". I can only imagine what you guys who've lived here ever since feel.

Great Virgin forest!
Hello elaine jane! below is part of a spanish report on the feasibility of setting up a health sanitorium in the general area of Baguio. The page below describes the pine forests in the Baguio area. Dated 1896, the repoort describes magnificent specimens of Pine Trees 50 meters tall.

This old market structure...was this part of the area that was burned during the recent Baguio Market fire?
cokeaholic wrote on Apr 22
same street were we used to assemble for rallies or parades passing through Session road. HeHeHe. Now this is what Baguio is all about.
cokeaholic wrote on Apr 22
Everything looked so simple back then..all the more peaceful..seems you really could walk around town with no marked pedestrian lanes or overpasses back then. HeHeHe
